Since moving back to the Comox valley in Aug. of 2007, Maralee and Steve set their sights on opening a restaurant that suited both their visions of dining out.
We wanted something different than what the valley had to offer. I wanted a little bit of city and he wanted to create a freshly prepared menu using a lot of the valley's local ingredients.
Since opening we have had lot of compliments about the decor and the art work... but mostly about the food. Steve's creativity seems to be well appreciated. Specials such as the lamb tenderloin served hot dog style and the North of Dutch Harbour King Crab Feast - our customers love his sense of humor, but also love the dishes he creates.
Everytime we think of taking off a menu item, that's when people start ordering it more. So other than a few minor changes, I have kept the menu pretty much the same. I put together nightly specials, offering some item's I can't carry all the time or items I can get at a great price, which I can then pass on.
Local Pork Chop with Mt. Washington wild blueberries and fresh local chantrelle mushrooms. Couscous and fresh salad.
